Hey Everyone! Today we launched our new campaign Play SmokeFree in Liverpool City Centre. We had a pop up play area that we used to promote the campaign by letting children play. The campaign asks people not to smoke in children's play areas as children copy what they see grown-ups do. The campaign will also reduce cigarette litter that young children pick up. It was freezing in Liverpool but we kept warm by running around talking to the public about Play SmokeFree! Listen our for our jinge that we recorded ourselves on Radio City this week!

Hey Everyone!

We would firstly like to welcome our new members Lilly, Khadijah and Prince! It is great to get new members and have their new ideas! Today we pitched to the Strategic Lead for Public Health from Liverpool Primary Care Trust and the SmokeFree Liverpool Coordinator. We are hoping to run a new campaign in the next couple of months and we presented our ideas and proposal in the boardroom to our guests. We each had a section to present and then we had a question and answers session. We will hear feedback in the next few days and hopefully our ideas will be chosen! It was quite nerve-wracking as a pitch is a bit like a job interview but we think we did well!

After a bit if a break over the summer we had a D-MYST meeting today and there is plenty to do! Over the summer we held our Smoking Celebs Facebook competition and we received lots of really good and funny entries - the winner will be announced on our Facebook page next week.

We welcomed two new members to D-MYST The Agency today, Lilly and Khadijah! It is great to have new members as they bring with them new ideas!

We were given a brief today for a new campaign that will be launched in Liverpool over the next few months. We have spent our meeting brain-storming ideas and putting together a proposal to show how we think the campaign should be run. We are inviting people to our next meeting so that we can present back to them and hopefully they will like our ideas as much as we do. If they do we will then start work!

We are still collecting postcards for our SmokeOff campaign to show the support for removing smoking images our of pre-watershed television programmes and we are working on a plan to get ourselves back in the papers!

Draw a celeb competition

Hey Everyone!

Firstly a big thank you to everyone that visited the D-MYST stand at St John's Shopping Centre on Friday! We had quite a busy stand!

Today D-MYST The Agency launched a summer competition giving people the chance to win a pair of tickets to Alton Towers! There are three pairs of tickets up for grabs and all that people have to do is go onto the D-MYST The Agency's Facebook page, 'like' the page and then post a picture of a smoking celebrity look very unglamourous. There are already some funny pictures that have been posted! We will be running the competition until the 31st August and then we will choose three winners.

Happy drawing!

The effect packing has on young people.

Since joining D-MYST, it has opened my eyes to the tactics which tobacco companies deploy in order to sell their products to young people.

Tobacco companies deny that they are encouraging young people to smoke, and many people will say that the way in which tobacco companies market their products has little effect, but this couldn't be further from the truth, which is shown by the screenshot above taken by a D-MYST member. Plain packaging would definitely be a place to start in order to reduce smoking among young people.

Look out in the papers this week for pictures of us, as well as updates on our Facebook wall and check out on Youtube for "frozen grand central" in order to get an idea of what we did

We had the chance to appear on City Talk's Breakfast Show today, so Sam and Alex went along and gave a fantastic LIVE interview about the SmokeOff campaign, plain packaging and the ways in which the tobacco industry manipulates young people! The interview went so well it was even replayed later on in the show! This was a great opportunity to let people know about us and of course we got a trip up the Radio City tower!
